Requirements to get licensed

The CFPB is a unit of the Federal Reserve System charged with protecting families and honest businesses from illegal practices by financial institutions, and ensuring that markets for consumer financial products and services are fair, transparent, and competitive. They have supervisory authority over banks, thrifts, and credit unions with assets over $10 billion, as well as their affiliates. In addition, they have supervisory authority over nonbank mortgage originators and servicers, payday lenders, and private student lenders of all sizes.

About this regulator

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority is a statutory authority of the Australian Government and the prudential regulator of the Australian financial services industry. APRA was established on 1 July 1998 in response to the recommendations of the Wallis Inquiry.
